Welcome to the sixth post in the wedding week series here on West 5th! We’ve been covering everything from our ceremony to the reception and last week we talked details. This week is all about our favorite moments from the big day and I can’t wait to share those with you. Visit here to get caught up on our past posts.
When I look back on our wedding day, I can still remember how it felt to say “I Do” to my wonderful Mr. W, I can still hear the laughter of our friends and families as they tore up the dance floor, but more importantly both Mr. W and I can still feel the immense love we received from everyone who joined us that day. I think it’s important to keep those memories fresh because they truly are moments you never want to forget.
So, what better way to celebrate our favorite moments then by sharing them here and hopefully giving our readers just a little peek into what was an amazing day and how much love surrounded us all day long.
I know for both of us, getting ready together with our friends and family was one of the highlights of the day. While we both got ready a little differently (the girls might have taken a touch longer than the boys) we both felt so loved that morning and so supported as we got ready to say “I Do”.
One of my favorite memories was hearing Mr. W’s voice during out first look. As I walked through the halls to go meet him that day, I felt nervous and like I could pass out at a moments notice. But by the time he walked down the stairs and I heard his voice, my heart settled and I took a big deep breath. While we might not have seen each other at this time, holding his hand and having a conversation while photos were being taken was more than enough. To this day, his voice will always be a calming mechanism for me and I don’t think that will ever change.
Just like when I heard his voice for the first time that day, you can imagine the relief I felt when we locked eyes as I walked down the aisle. Through my own tears and nerves, I knew that once I got to the end of the aisle my whole life was about to start all over again with the man of my dreams.
How can the first kiss not be a highlight of our wedding day? We sealed our new marriage with a kiss and walked out of the room as Mr. & Mrs. for the first time ever.
Something I haven’t mentioned about our wedding day is the quiet moment myself and Mr. W shared before we headed off to take pictures. We spent a few minutes in our reception room after the ceremony and in those moments, had a quiet dance just the two of us in our empty reception space. It was amazing to spend a few moments with my new husband and really soak in what was the best day of our lives.
Last, but certainly not least our favorite memories from the day lie within the most relaxed portion of our day. We spent our evening enjoying dinner, laughing with our guests and dancing up a storm.
There is a unique feeling that comes over you when you’re in a room with all of your favorite people and you can feel the love running through the entire room. I don’t think Mr. W or I have ever felt as good as we did that day, knowing that everyone came together to celebrate our love for one another and our new marriage. I know for both of us, we will never forget how that felt and how full our hearts were throughout the whole day.
Come back and join us for our final post in the wedding week series on Friday. We’ll give you our final thoughts and I’ll be posting our wedding video for the first time on West 5th Love. You won’t want to miss it.
