How To Unclog Your Garburator FAST

We had seriously garburator problems over the weekend….and let me tell you right now it was a HUGE hassle to try and fix and took way too long to figure it out. That is until we found this great tip on the Internet that I felt I had to share to save anyone from having the same problem!

How To Unclog Your Garburator FAST

The culprit was carrot peels and it was right before entertaining some of our family. We ended up having the garburator stop working, the sink fill up with dirty pipe water and losing the use of our sink while trying to make dinner (It is REALLY difficult using your bathroom sink for dinner prep). We tried Drano, Snaking, A broom handle and some yelling and cursing. None of that worked. Not even close. BUT what did work was a simple, AMAZING homemade remedy and some muscle power.

Basically if you ever decide to put any sort of peel (carrot, potato, orange etc) down your drain and it gets clogged follow the instructions below:
1/2 Cup of Baking Soda
1/2 Cup of Vinegar (any kind will do)
A Pot of boiling water
A Plunger

First pour your baking soda down the clogged side of the drain, then your vinegar and let that sit for at least 10 minutes max of 30 minutes. Depending how bad of a clog it is will depend how long you’ll want to let it sit. While that is bubbling, boil your water and grab your plunger. Next pour your boiling water down the same drain and let that sit for 2-5 minutes.
Once everything is down the drain, run your tap on the clogged side and fill the sink up with enough hot water to plunge. Next comes the hard part, start plunging! We had to plunge for at least 5 minutes, but if your clog is really bad it will take longer. Be patient! This does work and trust me when you hear the whooshing sound of your drain clearing up, it’s totally worth it. Hopefully, after that process you have a clear drain, if not try it again and if it doesn’t work it may be time to call the plumber!

By using this homemade recipe we saved ourselves getting a plumber in and all the trouble and bills that come with it.

Do you have any homemade remedies that you can’t live without?
