How To Make Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bake Bars

Let me warn you now…This recipe is for the chocolate peanut butter obsessed. This is for everyone who buys the king size Reece’s rather than the regular size. I made this, it really didn’t turn out how it was supposed to, yet we managed to eat it all.

Yup, it was so good that even when it didn’t turn out correctly it was still amazing. Now granted the only reason it didn’t turn out exactly the way it was supposed to is because I may or may not of used whatever amounts I had on hand for ingredients and didn’t exactly follow the recipe. But hey, it was a late weeknight and it was only option to fulfill my chocolate peanut butter craving FAST, I did what had to be done.
I have included the original recipe below that I found on the Food Network. But I wanted to mention I made my own changes from the reviews posted on the link. I also decided I preferred bars over cookies so please note that change when cooking.

2 cups sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 stick butter
1/2 cup milk
1 cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon vanilla
3 cups oatmeal
Waxed paper

In a heavy saucepan bring to a boil, the sugar, cocoa, butter and milk. Let boil for 1 minute then add peanut butter, vanilla and oatmeal. On a sheet of waxed paper, drop mixture by the teaspoonfuls, until cooled and hardened.
Super Easy Right? Well for the baking challenged like myself, it was a great recipe and didn’t take too much time at all. The only thing that didn’t work was for me was the structure of the bars. Even after time in the freezer they melted quickly, most likely this was because I didn’t have as much oats as it called for.
Regardless, the bars were a huge hit with family and friends and I wouldn’t hesitant to make them again! These are also so great for the summer as you don’t have to heat up the house with the use of the oven.  Enjoy!
